EHIPASSIKO: The Dhamma welcomes all beings to put it to the test and to experience it for themselves.

EHIPASSIKO

A forum for engaging Buddhism in Contemporary Dialogues.

The word "Renaissance" refers to rebirth. Rebirth of ideologies. Rebirth of movement. Rebirth of betterment. It is also known for the movement when economic, cultural, and social reforms took rebirth in Europe. "The Dhamma Renaissance" implies the re-birth and development of Dhamma given by Buddha in the realms of the 21st century. "The Dhamma Renaissance" is an academic movement, focused on reviving and evolving the teachings of Buddha for the modern era.

Buddha taught us "EHIPASSIKO", giving us encouragement to critically investigate his teachings, which is one of the important factor of this website. It's intriguing to think about how traditional concepts can be reexamined and applied in new ways to address contemporary challenges.

How do you think this movement will impact our understanding of Dhamma today?

Will be answered throughout the course through articles, research papers, books, interviews and podcasts.

The Story

In 2023, I visited Amarvathi Buddhist Monastery in Hemel Hempstead, UK, for 4 days residential program, where I delved into various Buddhist texts. One book that caught my attention was Ajahn Sucitto's "Buddha-Nature, Human-Nature," which explored the environmental impacts and potential solutions using Buddhist principles. This prompted me to contemplate the diverse teachings of Buddha.

Upon returning home, I began exploring an interdisciplinary approach to Buddhism, uncovering intriguing perspectives on economics, feminism, politics, and international relations. I discovered lesser-known fields like Buddhist Economics, Buddhist Agriculture, and Buddhist Psychology. Since then, my mission has been to revive Buddha's principles and apply them to today's consumer-driven capitalist world, not merely through theoretical understanding but through practical implementation.
